Jana Irmert es una artista sonora que reside en Berlín y su trabajo se expresa desde actuaciones en vivo y composición multicanal hasta proyectos conjuntos con cineastas, bailarines y artistas visuales.

Fundamentalmente la propuesta de Irmert se basa en la creación de atmósfera vinculada con su interés por la temporalidad, la alienación, la crisis ecológica. Y para ello en este disco utilizó materiales como el metal, el agua, la arena y el aire, junto a dispositivos electrónicos análogos, voces y grabaciones de campo manipuladas. 

“The Soft Bit” ofrece paisajes sonoros crudos, brumosos, a veces oscuros. Me imagino imágenes granuladas, a penas perceptibles, quizás algo oscuras. 

En el track que da título a este álbum, mientras los sintetizadores ambientales son el telón de fondo, en tanto que el agua cubre con su manto acuoso este ambiente en el que asoma un inesperado canto de pájaros. En “Underneath” y “Granite” Irmert se sumerge y comienza a escarbar en el fondo donde se escuchan voces melancólicas y elementos percusivos. Con “Everything Minus All” finaliza este disco a través de un trabajo introspectivo e íntimo.

Jana Irmert is a Berlin-based sound artist whose work ranges from live performances and multi-channel composition to joint projects with filmmakers, dancers and visual artists.

Fundamentally, Irmert's proposal is based on the creation of an atmosphere linked to her interest in temporality, alienation, and the ecological crisis. And for this album she used materials such as metal, water, sand and air, along with analog electronic devices, voices and manipulated field recordings.

"The Soft Bit" offers raw, misty, sometimes dark soundscapes. I imagine grainy images, barely perceptible, perhaps somewhat dark.

In the track that gives title to this album the ambient lines of synthesizers are the backdrop, while the water covers this eambience with an unexpected birdsong with its watery mantle. On “Underneath” and “Granite” Irmert dives in and begins to dig deep into the background where melancholic voices and percussive elements are heard. 

The final track of “Everything Minus All” represents the introspective and intimate Irmert's work.
