Ural Umbo se formó en 2019 por Reto Mäder (Sum Of R, JeGong, RM74) de Berna, Suiza y Marko Neuman (Dark Buddha Rising, Sum Of R, Waste Of Space Orchestra, Convocation) de Helsinki, Finlandia.

La primera formación de Ural Umbo de 2009-2011 fueron Reto Mäder y Steven Hess (Locrian, Pan American, RLYR) de Chicago, en la batería. 

Ural Umbo tiene hasta la fecha 5 álbumes editados, un EP y han participado en varias compilaciones.

Con el acompañamiento de potentes tambores, junto a melancólicas melodías y la voz de ultratumba de Neuman, “Roomer” se parece a una banda sonora que sugiere imágenes tenues y sombrías con formas aladas y espacios oscuros. Estas características disímiles y también complementarias, hacen que en este disco aflore canciones intensas como “Dance Of Duality” con teclados que parecen sacados de alguna ceremonia fúnebre, o “A Shape Of Noise” con la voz espeluznante de Neuman. Por otra parte, los tracks más ambientales como “Non-Form” con teclados que flotan en el aire, mientras unos suaves golpes y redobles a la batería acompañan, “How I Got There” arrastrada una voz fémina entre el spoken-word y el canto, además de los aullidos moribundos de Neuman. “Process Of Transformation” incursiona en territorios más experimentales con las guitarras que descuelgan sus notas vacilantes. También “The Proximity To Trauma” continua con el ritmo cansino y un canto desesperado en tanto “Landmarks and Tears” y “Against Our Understanding” están inmersos en una atmósfera lúgubre como si formaran parte de un escena de terror. “Influence Influences Influence” y “Outer Dimensions And Inner Problems” son quizás de los tracks más melódicos y al borde de lo épico que se nutren de un baño de sonidos sintetizados coros celestiales. “Beyond The Mind” con líneas de teclado sombrías, la voz soterrada y despavorida cierra este álbum, junto a una voz llorosa llena de miedo.

Ural Umbo's first line-up 2009-2011 were Reto Mäder and Steven Hess (Locrian, Pan American, RLYR) from Chicago on drums.

Ural Umbo has released five albums to date, an EP, and a string of compilations appearances.

Accompanied by powerful drums, along with melancholic melodies and Neuman's voice from beyond the grave, “Roomer” resembles a soundtrack that suggests dim, gloomy images with winged shapes and dark spaces. These dissimilar and also complementary characteristics make this album bring out intense songs like “Dance Of Duality”, with keyboards that seem taken from some funeral ceremony, or “A Shape Of Noise” with Neuman's spooky voice. On the other hand, the more ambient tracks in the likes of “Non-Form” with keyboards floating in the air, while soft beats and drumbeats accompany, “How I Got There” drags a female voice between spoken-word and singing, plus Neuman's dying howls. "Process Of Transformation" ventures into more experimental territories with guitars that drop wavering notes from it. Also on “The Proximity To Trauma” continues with the weary rhythm and a desperate chant while “Landmarks and Tears” and “Against Our Understanding” are immersed in a gloomy atmosphere as if they were part of a horror scene. "Influence Influences Influence" and “Outer Dimensions And Inner Problems” are perhaps the most melodic tracks and on the edge of the epic that are nourished by a bath of synthesized sounds and heavenly voices. "Beyond The Mind" with dark keyboard lines, buried and terrified voice closes this album, along with a tearful voice full of fear.
