James Welburn es un compositor y guitarrista que actualmente está radicado en Lillehammer, Noruega.

“Sleeper in the Void” es el segundo disco del artista y marca el lanzamiento número 50 de Miasmah. En este álbum colaboran varios artistas de la escena underground noruega: Tomas Järmyr ( Motorpsycho, Zu, Barchan), Hilde Marie Holsen (Hubro Records) y la artista vocal Juliana Venter (W/V, Phil Winter).

“Raze” es la obertura idónea pues el acompañamiento de los timbales ritualistas de Tomas Järmyr y los retumbantes bajos de nuestro protagonista, marcan el sentido épico de este disco. 

“Falling From Time” es implacable con sus techno beats y texturas electrónicas sucias y polvorientas, crean una atmósfera enrarecida y oscura. Continúa el track del título del álbum en el que participa Järmyr con su contundente batería, mientras suenan una campanas de iglesia a lo lejos como si anunciara el ocaso del día. En “In and out of Blue”, además de Järmyr emerge la voz espectral de Juliana Venter, generando un ambiente inquietante donde se cruzan emociones como el miedo. “Parallel” presenta a Hilde Marie Holsen con sus nostálgicas notas sintetizadas, mientras de “Fast Moon” que cierra este álbum, muestra un contundente ritmo industrial junto a las vocales fantasmales de Venter. 

Welburn no deja impávido al oyente por la contundencia de un sonido y la creación de paisajes sonoros misteriosos.

James Welburn is a composer and guitarist currently based in Lillehammer, Norway.

"Sleeper in the Void" is the artist's second album and marks Miasmah's 50th release. Several artists from the Norwegian underground scene collaborate on this album: Tomas Järmyr (Motorpsycho, Zu, Barchan), Hilde Marie Holsen (Hubro Records) and vocal artist Juliana Venter (W/V, Phil Winter).

“Raze” is the ideal overture since the accompaniment of Tomas Järmy’s ritualistic cymbals and the rumbling bass of our protagonist, mark the epic sense of this album.

“Falling From Time” is relentless with its dirty and dusty techno beats and electronic textures, creating a rarefied and dark atmosphere. Continues the title track of the album in which Järmyr participates with his forceful drums, while church bells ring in the distance as if announcing the twilight of the day. On "In and out of Blue", in addition to Järmyr’s percussion, Juliana Venter’s spectral voice emerges, generating a disturbing atmosphere where emotions such as fear intersect. "Parallel" features Hilde Marie Holsen with nostalgic synthesized notes, while "Fast Moon" that ends the album shows a forceful industrial rhythm alongside Venter's fantasmagorical vocals.

Welburn does not leave the listener undaunted by the power thta gives to the  sound and the creation of eerie soundscapes.
