Greg Fox es un artista multi-instrumentista, interdisciplinario y profesor, nacido y residente en la ciudad de Nueva York. 

Su capacidad creativa y prolífica producción lo ha llevado a realizar giras, grabar y lanzar numerosos discos con Liturgy, Guardian Alien, ZS, Ex Eye, Skeletons, Teeth Mountain, Dan Deacon, Colin Stetson, Ben Frost, entre otros artistas.

Este es el tercer disco en estudio de Fox y en esta oportunidad continúa como lo hizo en su anterior álbum “The Gradual Progression” de 2017 su incursión con el software musical Sensory Percussion que puede convertir un kit de batería en un controlador electrónico o sampler, lo que permite una gama más amplia de sonidos en la mezcla. Este álbum fue grabado con el veterano productor de doom metal Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Six Organs of Admittance).

“Contact” combina vanguardia y jazz en donde la percusión se complementa con patrones rítmicos aleatorios con otros golpes más rectos a la batería. Esta simbiosis conlleva electrónica flotando que despliega retazos de latigazos y otros con ribetes más envolventes.

En “Arising and Passing” Fox genera un cierto caos sónico que finalmente controla mientras suenan golpes a algún tambor cóncavo oriental lo que da un contrapunto al frenecí del drum kit. Por otra parte, la armonía también se hace presente en canciones como “Parasthesia” en donde asoman teclados que parecen cuerdas que son levemente tocadas, como un ejercicio de reflexión frente a la confusión de la percusión.

Greg Fox is a multi-instrumentalist, interdisciplinary artist and teacher, born and based in New York City.

His creative skills and prolific production has led him to tour, record and release numerous albums with Liturgy, Guardian Alien, ZS, Ex Eye, Skeletons, Teeth Mountain, Dan Deacon, Colin Stetson, Ben Frost among other artists.

This is Fox's third studio album and this time he continues as he did on his previous album “The Gradual Progression” of 2017 his foray with the Sensory Percussion music software that can turn a drum kit into an electronic controller or sampler, allowing a wider range of sounds in the mix. This album was recorded with veteran doom metal producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Six Organs of Admittance).

"Contact" combines avant-garde and jazz where percussion is complemented by random rhythmic patterns with other straighter drum hits. This symbiosis involves hovering electronics that display pieces of lashes and others with more enveloping trims.

On “Arising and Passing” Fox generates a certain sonic chaos that finally controls throughout an oriental bow drum while beating sounds, giving a counterpoint to the drum kit's frenzy. On the other hand, harmony is also present in songs like “Parasthesia” where keyboards that look like strings are lightly played, as an exercise of reflection against the confusion of percussion.
