El artista sonoro de Burlington, Vermont, Gahlord Dewald quien toca el contrabajo y electrónica realiza una interesante declaración: “Mi trabajo comienza con el bajo: los sonidos profundos cerca de la tierra. Los sonidos que te rodean al estar de pie, caminar, correr o descansar. Los sonidos que sacuden tu cuerpo”. Es como el zumbido de una gran ciudad que se percibe como ruido de fondo, como un drone que está allí en forma permanente y del que a veces no nos damos cuenta y pasa a ser transparente. 

Este LP fue grabado en el TANK Center for Sonic Arts ubicado en Rangely, Colorado que fue construido originalmente como una instalación de tratamiento de aguas ferroviarias alrededor de 1940 pero nunca cumplió por completo su función original. Quedando vacío este lugar, mucha gente que pasaba por allí cantaba y jugaba con la resonancia del espacio.

En 2013, este espacio se convirtió en un lugar de grabación ideal para músicos experimentales. En 2017, Gahlord fue a este lugar y con un contrabajo que le prestaron, creó la música para este disco que consiste en dos tracks donde el silencio juega un rol importante, así como la resonancia del contrabajo, con sus crujidos y ruidos retorcidos. Algunos sonidos son casi imperceptibles y parece que estuvieran embrujados. Es interesante cuando una seguidilla de golpes a las cuerdas presagian una inexorable caída al vacío. También el contrabajo crea su propio lenguaje con sus sonidos ondulantes, graves y profundos.

“Coherent Light Enclosed Without” muestra diferentes ángulos de las resonancias, cuyos resultados son insospechados e inquietantes.

Burlington, Vermont sound artist Gahlord Dewald who plays bass and electronics makes an interesting statement: “My work starts with the bass: the deep sounds near to the earth. The sounds that surround you while standing or walking or running or resting. The sounds that shake along your body”. It is like the buzz of a big city that is perceived as background noise, it is there permanently, like a drone and sometimes we are not aware of it and it becomes transparent.

This LP was recorded at the TANK Center for Sonic Arts located in Rangely, Colorado which was originally built as a rail water treatment facility around 1940 but never fully fulfilled its original function. With this place empty, many people who passed by sang and played with the resonance of space.

In 2013, this space became an ideal recording location for experimental musicians. In 2017, Gahlord went to this place and with a double bass loaned him, he created the music for this album that consists of two tracks where silence plays an important role, as well as the resonance of the double bass, with its crunches and twisted noises. Some sounds are almost imperceptible and appear to be haunted. It is interesting when a string of blows to the ropes presage an inexorable fall into the void. Also the double bass creates its own language with its undulating, deep and deep sounds.

"Coherent Light Enclosed Without" shows different angles of the resonances, the results of which are unsuspected and disturbing.
