The Star Pillow is the moniker of Italian artist Paolo Monti who since 2012 has a string of releases on labels like Time Released Sound, Taverna and now is the second one released on Midira Records, after "Invisible Summer" in 2016 and " Hidden "in 2018, with the collaboration of Italian sound artist Giulo Aldinucci. Monti with his guitar and synthesizers proposes five songs that combine ambient, experimental and approaches to post-rock. Of the five songs in this album, the first one, "Bruno Martino is my Tom Araya" is quite disruptive with a guitar riff that show distortion which is the breaking note on this album. Bruno Martino was a renowned Italian singer of the '60s who Monti considers as the outstanding guitarist and leader of the metal band Slayer. "Departures" is a piece with beautiful ambient synthesizers lines that meander the space generating a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. On "Circle of Events" the thin and trembling chords of the electric guitar predominate and penetrates the darkness with a drone on "Moving Gray" that ends with a noisy guitar. “Sad Headbanger”, the final track, weaves languid electrifying chords that unload furiously. Monti offers us different nuances between noise and calm, melancholy and bliss.
